GITPA – 40周年標誌設計比賽投票結果

Thank you so much for your active voting! After an exciting round of voting, the result finally came!

The choice No. 7 received the highest number of votes (112 votes!) and became the winner of the logo competition. Congratulations to the winner, Miss LEE Wing Tung, Eva (APII/EEA2, EMSD)!

She will be awarded the $500 supermarket coupons and the certificate of appreciation.

The design will be printed on the celebration souvenirs and publications for all the members to keep forever. It will also be committed to the history of GITPA!

We are planning to hold another event to collect the memorial moments from our members along the journey of being a professional Analyst/Programmer! Take a look at your favourite photo album, could you find some interesting and precious photos taken during our activities or any working environment? We encourage you to share them with us.

GITPA – 40周年標誌設計比賽投票

We think you should vote for your choice among the eight fabulous designs we have received from our colleagues in KICP! Thanks so much to the participants for their creativity and time. Indeed it is difficult to choose the best one. It would be good if we could use all the logos for different products. Anyway, the highest voted design will be printed on the souvenir, which we target to give it to our members as a memorial gift.

Another big event will be the GITPA 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner. We would invite all the AP Grade colleagues and friends to gather together on this beautiful night. More details will be shared in due course.

Meeting with OGCIO grade management

The meeting between GITPA and OGCIO Grade Management had be held on 21 August 2019. We discussed several topics which our members most concerned about. For example, we noticed some colleagues had resigned recently which we worried about if the cases were related to the increase of workload. According to information collected by grade management, there were various reasons for them to decide to quit the job. We suggested to arrange more stress management training and Grade Management affirmed that the OGCIO Training Section had been organizing training courses on stress management and more classes could be arranged if needed. Another topic we would like to highlight was the annual staff deployment planning exercise. We found that not many colleagues were well informed before their deployment plans were submitted. Grade Management agreed that line management should discuss and agree with their staff for the release plans. They will provide a clearer reminder in the next exercise to line management.

The full minutes had been uploaded to the OGCIO portal (link to download) and we encourage you to provide any feedback and suggestion to us for the next meeting scheduled on January 2020.

We have issued the logo design competition invitation and already received the creative designs from colleagues! The KICP voting system for all colleagues to vote for the best design will be open soon. The award-winning designer will be rewarded with a $500 supermarket coupon and the logo will be printed on the GITPA 40th Anniversary souvenir collections! 燒烤樂暨夜探螢火蟲之旅 – part II

We now continue our exciting adventure of「GITPA — 燒烤樂暨夜探螢火蟲之旅」! As instructed by our ecotourism guide, summer is the best season to watch fireflies in Hong Kong. After fueling up the energy by the BBQ dinner, all the participants headed to the start point with our shuttle bus – Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve. It was a very famous firefly resort in Hong Kong. But before we saw the little flying “light”, we first encountered the “Wall of Scorpion”! We never imagined such a number of scorpions living inside the rock cracks. “The scorpions are visible because their bodies contain a layer of sulfide, which emits fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light,” the tour guide explained.

So where were the fireflies? When we looked at the riverside along the trail, some beautiful flying green light appeared finally in the dark! “They live and reproduce in the clean water near the river, on the edge of the pool, or in the farmland. During the day they normally hide at the bottom of the leaves as they are afraid of sunlight. At night, they will revive and rely on the fluorescent signals attracting the opposite sex.” We were also very lucky to observe some of the fireflies were crawling along the roadside. The true face of them was exposed under the red light torch. “Besides firefly, please don’t miss the cute tree frogs in this forest. They are also the precious and protected species in our city.” What a meaningful and unforgettable eco-tour experience!

GITPA is already 40 years old in the coming year! We will kick start a series of celebrations to celebrate this important day for everyone! The first event is the logo design competition! We are now inviting you to contribute your ideas and design a logo for GITPA 40th Anniversary! The award-winning design will be printed on the GITPA 40th Anniversary Collection, which will be kept forever by all members and will be dedicated to the extraordinary history of GITPA!

燒烤樂暨夜探螢火蟲之旅

The exploring tour「GITPA — 燒烤樂暨夜探螢火蟲之旅」was successfully held on 10 August 2019 (Saturday). More than 20 members, their family and friends experienced this amazing tour.

We have organised a shuttle bus commuting between the MTR station and the activity venue. On the way to the venue, our professional tour guide introduced a lot about firefly. Being well briefed, we were all so excited looking forward to the coming night!

Having fed with knowledge, we fed our stomach too. The first part of the activity was BBQ in broad daylight. Worried about having BBQ in the summer? With air-conditioning fans and cold water at the venue, BBQ in the summer was also a pleasurable experience.

There were more than 20 food choices for the BBQ, including chicken wings and thighs, pork, sausages, fish ball, shumai, etc. All in all, it was a “all you can eat” BBQ buffet for two hours! The big lawn there was an excellent place to have a leisure walk after a big meal — and the walk was a good warm-up exercise before the night adventure!

Minions日式繪花卷製作班

The baking class「Minions日式繪花卷製作班」was successfully held on 13 July 2019 (Saturday). 28 members, their family and friends participated in the class.

This time, as Minions were the featuring star of this workshop, they attracted a lot of their big fans to bring them live on the cakes! Many participants worked in pairs and had fun. From the pictures, you can feel that they shared and enjoyed the precious time a lot.

Baking the Minions cake was not as difficult as it appeared. By following the simple steps taught by the instructors, all the participants delivered the good-looking and delicious cakes.

GREETINGS FROM THE NEW GITPA EX-CO

At the beginning of the new term, we wish to take this opportunity to thank members and friends of GITPA for your support and participation! This term will be very special for all of us, as GITPA will meet the 40th Anniversary in the coming year! It is the best time to share the precious moments with our members and friends together. We are planning some exciting activities to celebrate this big occasion. Please look forward to them!

Membership Renewal Exercise 2019

The annual membership renewal exercise was successfully completed with the unfailing support from all site representatives. As of 31 March 2019, there are 552 ordinary members and 390 life members. We have a total of 942 members, representing over 78% of the AP grade.

The GITPA membership list has been posted onto the GITPA blog in KICP. If you find any discrepancies, please inform our Membership Secretary (Mr. Tony WP HO at 2860 6051) immediately so that we could make necessary amendments accordingly.

The 2018-19 GITPA Executive Committee (ExCo) would like to thank all members for putting trust on us, supporting us by providing views to us and participating in our events throughout the year.

Online Voting of Best Pottery

Upcoming Event

The 2019 GITPA Annual General Meeting (AGM) cum Annual Dinner will be held on 14 May 2018 (Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Medical Association Club House (Wanchai Premises). We will share our work and activities in the year 2018-19. New GITPA ExCo for year 2019-20 will be also elected.

All GITPA members are cordially invited to the AGM to participate in the election of the new GITPA ExCo and meet other colleagues. The online voting result of the best pottery will be announced in the AGM where awards will be presented. So, please join us to share the fruitful moment!
